About Us

Nethermoss Archers were first formed in 1958 as part of the Sports & Social Club of English Electric, Netherton, Bootle. The Club’s name is taken from the effigy of a Knight thought to be the Knight of Netherton Moss, Sir Richard Molyneux circa 1270 that is situated in Sefton St Helen's Church.

On the closure of English Electric, the Club moved to several locations before settling at the Scarisbrick Village Hall sports field in 1994, near Ormskirk, Lancashire. On the 24th April 2010, the club moved to the Thomas Galvin Sports Ground, Abbey Ln, Burscough after gaining fundinding from Sport England and a grant from the LCC Community Chest. This move ensured uninterrupted shooting throughout the summer. During the winter months, October to April, the Club shoots indoors in the Sports Hall at Sporting Edge, Edge Hill University.

Over our long history, club members have achieved many successes, these include:

  · Three Olympic competitors attended five separate Games;

  · Three Great Britain Team Managers;

  · Senior and Junior Great Britian National Squad Members;

  · Ladies and Gents Lancashire Champions;

  · Junior and Senior County Squad Team Members;

  · Holders of British, County and National Records.
